Celebration Assembly

As this half term is so short, we have decided to have a celebration assembly after the holidays.

Please put the following dates in your diaries and help us celebrate the end of another great year:

  • Nursery AM: Tuesday 16 July – 10.30
  • Nursery PM: Tuesday 16 July – 2:30
  • Reception, Years 1 and 2: Tuesday 9 July 9.15
  • Years 3, 4 and 5: Wednesday 10 July, 9.15
  • Years 6 Leavers’ Assembly: Wednesday 17 July – 2.00

Eid closure

School will close for Eid on Wednesday 5 June to enable our Muslim families to celebrate. School will be open for the rest of the week as normal.
If you celebrate Eid on Tuesday 4 June or Thursday 6 June, then this will be marked as a day of religious observance on the registers.

Change to the end of the day

From September, school will close at 3.15pm rather than 3.30pm.

The reason for this is to enable us to continue with our current lunchtime arrangements: all the staff spend time in the dining hall or the playground with your children. We have found this to be a valuable opportunity to look at social and emotional development.

Community Award

Nominations for our fourth annual Gulzareen Shehzad Community Award will close at the end of June
If your daughter or son has made a positive contribution to the local community by making West Bowling a better place to live, please nominate them by adding their name to the envelope on the display outside Miss Thompson’s office.

The governors will interview the finalists on Monday 8 July at 1.00 to decide the winner.
Last year’s winner said she was proud to have received the award. The governors were extremely impressed with the winner’s contribution to the community.

Free book offer

The Better Start Imagine Project provides children born within the Better Start area at any time from January 2016 with a free book every month up until they are four years old. Each month, enrolled children receive a high quality, age appropriate book in the post, free of charge.
